China delivers first round of generators to help fight load-shedding

how long before the crappy generators break, or get stolen?
and how much did each generator cost 100 million each?

It was a donation so I assume on the books "0" but probably a handshake for voting in global issues, less tax for Chinses companies, mineral deals etc

At least they gave them generators and not money.

They're learning how to deal with the ANC.

This energy minister is embarrassing in that he doesn't know how embarrassing these small generators are.

We have finally merged with the stereotype of the failed African nation, dependent on handouts - while the politicians live in luxury and safety.

Or do you have a different view, @TheChamp ?

Not what I was expecting. Embarrassing. This is China having a LOL, for sure. Whomever did not check what the aid was going to be has to get raked over the coals, at the least. And if they knew it was this, they have to have that ass kicked and then handed to them on the way out.

Normally when China helps a country they want something in return, what do they want from us?
take your pick, cheap/free labor, mineral rights, farms, voting powers, or a Military base they can park their crappy ships at.
China is all about take, they will give South africa crappy generators for the ANC soul.

Future African-generations will remember the good old days of colonialism and Western "partnerships", before the Chinese came.
yip, the Zimbos are learning how generous Comrade Putin AKA wagner group can be.

A half loaf of bread is better than nothing. I dont see Europe or the West coming out to help. Wait they too busy conspiring as to how they going to assist Israel in killing the innocent while furthering their own interests ( oil, and a new sea route cut through Gaza ). @Origin248 dont bother with the ungratefull you cant make everyone happy.
You do realise that the World Bank, aka the West, recently extended $497 million or R8.6 billion to Eskom as a concessional loan to repurpose and repower Komati? But unfortunately, our ruling regime has to actually counter produce to enable the loan to be activated, so the loan will probably never happen.
To call a couple of 5 Kw generators half a loaf of bread is really disingenuous.

I mean I knew we were in for comedy gold with this donation from China, but the whole thing surpasses even my wildest dreams in how much of a cock up its going to be.

It looks as if we received pallets and pallets of 2kw or 5kw generators from https://hzcpower.com/products/generators/gasoline-generators/
So it actually looks as if Sputla has lied again claiming they're from 6kw to 200kw.

Irrespective of the amount or quantity of help provided everthing totals up.if one of those generators can keep the lights on for kids to study or run a couple of vital medical equipment for surgery to take place, its served a purpose. Unless you have been out doing community work in townships and municipal buildings will you understand.
