In a recent letter to the human resources manager of a large firm, the labour department said: “We … confirm that individuals of Chinese descent are not designated and should not be included in the Employment Equity Report as a subgroup of coloureds. We further confirm that these individuals should be reflected as ‘white’ in terms of employment equity, especially if they are citizens of the country.” This contradicts earlier unofficial statements.
Can't read anymore :(

WOT is going on in this country!!?

WHO is this government? I thought I voted for freedom: not more of the SAME.

As for the chinese: wow, before they always wanted to be white!?

Sickening. Can't believe I'm typing these words. Thought we were all going to be South African... seems not.

I want a new BLACK government!!! A president would be nice too.

:mad:

(boo - how come I don't have the new strikethru font?)

Black = Majority = Democratically elected

We should start a campaign... to have different racial colours and have them recorded in our ID book... in fact - we should have the ID book cover coloured according to your "race":
Black = any general Bantu tribe
Brown = Colored and Indian
Yellow = Chinese, Japanese, etc. (sic)
Pink = European

And if that offends anyone, then I fail to see how the current status quo doesn't.

We are supposed to be , living in a non racial society with the new gov. then why are we still filling in forms which ask for race classification?
Had to do an AED/CPR course for work purposes, and what is one of the first questions on official form, "please state race"??:confused:

After the chineze are classified as black the classification can be extremely simple: The picked on and the rest.

If I ever had to fill in such a form (with such blatant racism) I would strike it thru or put South African.

:mad:

(or leave it blank, they can fill it in)

How are we ever going to get beyond issues of race if this government keeps reinforcing them?

I was told it was for the purpose of "demographics" of the staff , to see who has done the course in question.:confused:
Sounded too much like a B.E.E. issue to me:(

Always fill in black and call people racist when they enquire, watch them try to squirm out of that one.

as regards race - if you're born in Africa - you're an African. That's it.
If you're born in South Africa, you're a South African.
Anything else is racist, and nonsense, and shouldn't be tolerated or even debated.

I'm having a lot of fun here in the USA, given that I am quite legally, and technically, an 'African-American' by all common legal standards.
I'm born in Africa, and en route to becoming a citizen of the US - so Im an African-American
(As this is the term that folks here use to describe 'black' people), its a lot of fun to stand on stages, doing comedy, and pointing out to the mobs that I am a genuine African American, and anyone else who's using the term, needs to get a life and face up to being 'just' an American.

Maybe its time that the lawyers on forum, give some thought to approaching the world court in the Hague, for help and rulings on what seems to be an increasingly racist and race-obsessed ANC government.

Instead of lots of different groups trying to keep up with the ANC's revisionism, it'd be useful to have an EU court rule that the ANC's various attitudes and pronouncements, are in fact, nothing more than pure racism.

This would send a message to both the Gov in SA, as well as the world, that things aren't quite as rosy in the 'new South Africa' - and that yet again, the SA Gov is sliding away from global norms of democracy.

I would pay money to see that show ... :D

Exactly

My wife is having our first child next week. He will be born in South Africa, but we are getting him a USA passport straight away at the embassy. So yes, he will be African American even though he is as "white" as me who is only American married to an African. :p
