Choosing the best collaboration suite for our company

Ok folks, I need your thoughts on this one, so please help.

We have been looking around for an open source collaboration suite for our company and currently I'm playing around with eGroupware.

It's jam-packed with apps, like a wiki, file manager, project manager, gallery - and much more. BUT...it seems like they decided to leave the most important bit (syncing with your email client) to the community to develop and so far without much success. The documentation is very scarce (and a lot only in German) and not very user-friendly.

I've come to the conclusion that if we really want to use a platform that will support any mail client and any OS, the only real option to use is Zimbra. We will lose some of the cool apps that's bundled with eGroupware, but at least the most important bit - email and calendars - will work.

Also planning on getting the paid edition, cos then we get mobile sync + blackberry sync, which is very important if most of your employees are flying round the country, or attending meetings outside the country.

So....it's gotta be Zimbra. :)

Your thoughts?

Oh, and another nice thing is that Zimbra also works with Asterisk VOIP servers....so you can open your Zimbra desktop client and phone anyone on your contact list. Big bonus for us.

A long time ago I set up vtiger for a client. If I remember correctly it had a thunerbird plugin - not sure what it was for though. I really just set up the box and left them to it.
