Check for an Updated Bios for Laptop maybe?
I had to do that today to get a U630 to work.

I had the same problem with my laptop. after i upgraded my vmc to the new version 7. I uninstalled the VMC removed the card. rebooted it installed the vmc again. then inserted the card when asked for. it seems to be a problem if you upgrade the VMC with out frist uninstalling the previose version. I have a ACER ASPIRE 3620 xp home sp 2

Sorry for not elaborating on my woes :)

Here are more details on the error I get:

Use a PMCIA / PCI adaptor on me desktop.

Uninstalled the VMC software - made sure that Merlin U740 was unplugged .

Restarted me pc (ask instructed by the EVIL Windows)

PC has restarted - installed VMC softwafe asks me to create a profile.

Then at clicking on Next at Step 3 of creating profile , pucked-up Windows moans :

Driver installion failed . Please check all devices and try again.

Then sometimes the most @sswipe OS moans (in Lower RH at taskbar where) tells me :

USB Device Not recognized.

Any idea ?

Ta in advance

maybe this will work

I also have a HSDPA card running on my desktop through the vodacom supplied PCI adapter. I had the problem with my laptop. not my desktop. this is a shot in the dark but what if uninstalling the adapter its self from the device manager. then rebooting the computer to have it relocated and install the drivers. then try again. (prehaps you could find the lastst drivers on the maufactures website) uninstall VMC as well. and reinsatll after reinstalling the adapter. This may work, windows does strange things. :p try the datacard in a laptop and see.

ps. make shure you have VMC version 7.

V3G do you have any advice

It's not called 'Plug and Pray' technology for nothing....

There was one know problem (discussed in another thread) where, if you had a U630 on V6, it leaves some files on your system after a uninstall.

Not sure if this is applicable.

I have often had those problems on a variety of laptops, try getting ur hands on a old version 4 novatell disc, and on that disks is a file called novatels fixes. Copy that , and then update your dieivers with those files..
