I want to register a new company (pty ltd) for one of my existing businesses that I'm currently operating as a sole trader. I've just checked cipc and noticed that there is already another company with the same name that I want to register.. The company's status is currently "AR Final deregistration" and I checked the date which shows it was de-registered in 2009. Is it possible to get the same name or will it be marked as taken ?

I know I can register any name and simply "trade as" that name but prefer having the same name as my trading name as it looks more professional, like Company Pty Ltd, instead of Afrifindmor t/a Company..

No, you will not be able to register the name. The name will likely not be made available for registration again. The are names with this status as far back as the 1990's. I don't think they are allowed to make a name available again after deregistration.
