Hi Guys,

So I have been toying with the idea of a start-up and registering my business for ages now.

So I have finally created my CIPC account, but when I login, it only give me my details to "Update" which I have done 10 times and it accepts, but I can't click on the e-services "Home" where you get all the buttons, to reserve a name, register a business etc.... Do I need to EFT the money into their Absa account first before these buttons become available?

Thanks!

Oh good luck with all that. I have tried to register as a client online and because my surname has a special character I cannot register. Dropped them mails, called and even found the email address of their lead developer. No replies. I now conduct my business tax free :whistling:

Thanks for the input!

Haha I understand the special character, I have one in my surname and I just leave it out on all governnnnnnment docs...they pronounce it wrong anyways :O

I can't get onto the enquiries page even, because my login details are apparently incorrect, yet I can login to the normal page? Their site is Farked!

It's a painful site to use. Have you tried opening it in IE?

the site says it's not supported in IE. I tried to login today, and it would log me in, but all the buttons would send me back to the login page. I ended up updating my contact details and then I was sms'd & emailed a new password, which was the same as my old password, and I have not been able to login again.

That site is a nightmare to use, but yeah... find a computer that has IE7 and try it there.

FNB will do the registration process for you for free if you open a business account with them, you'll only have to pay the R 125 without a name or R 175 with (same as doing it yourself).

I also thought of going with them as they are my bank and I really enjoy their service, but 1. I have only heard bad things about this offer of theirs in terms of time, and 2. they don't do name reservation...so either way I'll have to fight with the site.

So good news is, they reflected my money on my account already ( I cc'd the POP to their accounts email..so that worked well), but bad news I still don't have access....sigh..

Many of the guys here are registered already, pity you've already EFT'd the money. You could have asked someone to do it for you.

Unfortunately for me the crafty government bastards worked extra hard the day they got my docs and changed it to the correct symbol for me. How convenient.

Except for the part where you then have a business account for like a gazillion rand monthly with something like 3 free efts etc. Business bank accounts are such a rip off. You get about 1% of the features of a personal account at 3-5x the cost.

Ok maybe a bit of an exaggeration but their cheapest account is R200 and you get 30 transactions, 5 ATM withdrawals and you have to pay for debit orders. Got my business running on their lowest cheque account - costs me R89 per month for unlimited transactions and free debit orders.

I was also turned away by the R200...but then after speaking to a consultant and going back to the website you can see somewhere at the bottom a "pay as you go" thing for R65 or something bucks....so if you would be like me, only getting EFT's into the account this will be basically it.

Yeah I did see that at the bottom. Problem is if you do a couple of transactions a month then you wind up paying just as much.

If you dont come right, and willing to sacrifice the money you transferred, I can do the registration for you, and you can just pay me the CIPC fees.
