I'm so livid that I don't even wanna comment right now

The Super 14’s citing farce will be held up for more ridicule following a ruling to ban Cheetahs scrumhalf Tewis de Bruyn for three weeks because of a dangerous tackle committed in the weekend’s game against the Bulls at Loftus.

Coming hard on the heels of Waratahs scrumhalf Brett Sheehan being let off scot-free for a shoulder charge on Brad Barritt which, to most viewers, seemed to have been committed with an element of intent the verdict on De Bruyn is going to convince local followers that when it comes to the citing procedure there is something rotten in the process.

Even as a Cheetah supporter I knew he was gonna get cited and banned. Probably the right call. But only if these fools wanna be consistent.
This Super 14 just proved that the same rules do not apply.
Lauaki almost decapitates Habana
Liebenberg and Force player m*er each other with closed fists
Sheehan almost ends Barrit's career

but the guy that really just had a spur of the moment mistake gets banned for 3 weeks while the other continue to play week in and week out.

I in no way condone what the idiot did either, he deserves his ban but like you stated, it's all about the inconsistency that has me so livid.

Does it not come down to the fact that the NZ/AUS teams have better legal representation when it comes to these hearings?

it's not the legal representation I think, I reckon it really is a 'lets get the moegoes' attitude ...... like I said in the Sharks thread, it may sound conspiracy theory-ish but the evidence is there.

I agree. But would one of our legal teams have picked up on something like the Lauaki thing? Did they even know about this ruling before the whole Lauaki debacle?

I doubt the citing official knew about this rule

All I know is we are in for one hell of weekend again. This is probably the closest that the Super 14 has ever been. 7 teams can still make the semi's.
I can say for certainty that the result from my game will have absolutely no effect on the outcome. Or maybe they already did when they smashed the Sharks. :D

Ag I'm looking at this weekends game like it's over for us regards a semi spot ....... but, I still wanna send the Bully boys packing ;) And if we get the semi spot, well, that's a small bonus.

It is always a massive bonus to beat the Bulls. Even better when it is at the Loftus Kraal.
don't let Devill hear us now

I think that all the teams except for the Bulls are purely looking at these games as a moral booster before the Currie Cup.
