That public funds were spent frugally. Why are there always budget cuts? It's because of ridiculous salaries for government officials.
Show me some audited results for a few departments, did that banana Republic even had an Auditor General?

How many hundreds of millions has the ANC spent on court fees? Close to a billion by now?

Remember help your buddies loot then spent millions upon millions to get them back only to allow them out saying they are at risk of dying in prison. Really?

All I know is I used to pay 10c per kWh and the Rand equalled the Dollar. Robots and street lights worked and their were no potholes. Police also arrived within 5 minutes.

10c per kWh... those were the days, because we we previously disadvantaged we paid nothing per kWh.

Hey there's a good idea. Public officials must make use of public defenders like the long suffering voter who is saddled with public defenders when he can't afford lawyer's fees. Maybe then there'd be incentive to hire competent public defenders. The huge amounts they spend defending elected officials, litigating and defending various wrongs could be funneled toward building a capable public defense system.

Excellent idea. State officials and politicians should also have to use state clinics, hospitals and transport. A lot of problems will suddenly be solved.

It's also because of them that Steenhuisen's lack of education became exposed.

Some of their members tried to push for a motion to require leaders to have tertiary education (it was to take a swipe at Zuma but they didn't realize JS had no post high school qualification).

Their fans regularly call people out for mocking JS's lack of post school education but conveniently ignore that the DA shot themselves in the foot there. It would have not been an issue for anyone had they just shut up on that one.

Haven't you got your own DA bashing thread where you keep repeating this?

You forget JS contribution in international crisis. If it wasn't for his diplomacy, Ukraine would be in tatters now. One should forget petty things like education etc. He speaks queen's English & looks presentable in suits - this will bring in investors when he becomes president. That is good enough for us.

Who is "us"? You're not even South African but constantly mouth off as one.

Yes it is, but DA doesn't subscribe to my lowly standards, do they? Why did he not do the same thing he was preaching to Ramaphosa about on Nora Grose?

Ah. so a hypocrite then. Different standards for different people.

And what exactly is that meant to imply? Were they poor? Humble? Because Ministers still drive their own cars in traffic, some Minister was even hijacked not too long ago.

It implies nothing. It shows they didn't need the African Big Man show of blue light convoys and the public didn't need to get out of their way. Connie Mulder cringed when we all hung out of the window making money rolling signs at him after the Info Scandal. Zuma had a jogger arrested for flipping him the bird.

Some of its politicians were jailed for corruption. Want some names? I'll give you some when you can give me the names of ANC politicians jailed for corruption. Until then, Google is your friend.

Correct. Soweto has had the R18 Billion it owed for electricity dating back to the 1970's written off...

And you were never previously disadvantaged. You're born free.

Correct. Even the NP guys could be seen driving their own cars in traffic.

Mayors were unpaid as was any councilor except for a nice car for official use only for the Mayor, a nice chain of office and actual expenses. The only people in a municipality that were paid were the Town Clerk (CFO), Town Engineer and staff. There was no political representation in a municipality either.

And this is in my living memory.
Correct and in the case of my friend whose dad was a mayor, the driver tended to be somebody like the Fire Chief who would don his uniform and it would all look spiffy. And they only used the car a handfull of times. His dad used to do council work during the day and sell life insurance at night.
