Sorry for the uninformed question. Which Cities does this include? Cape Town? Johburg?

I really dont know which genius decided that 30 seconds is enough time to do something about your load. Even 3 minutes is quite short to figure out what to switch off and actually go and do it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of Eskom but this is just a really poorly implemented workaround to loadshedding.

Has City power started with time of use tariffs yet? That may solve a lot of the problems when it hits your pocket and you can easily avoid it.
I was speaking to someone in Zambia and they get load shedding for 9.5 hours there, so we ain't seen nothing yet!

So wait, if you have a smart meter, you don't get load shed anymore during the scheduled load shedding time so long as you keep your load below the limit?

Or do you just get loadshed anyway and this is an additional restriction.

These people, they are going to **** up so many appliances with this. If I am not home and my stuff keeps going off and on 5 times in a row.

Luckily I am in a 'stupid-meter' area, although I pay through my arse during peak times for time of use.

if you not at home then you cant be using more then 21 amps or 5 KW/h? The meter does show your current KW reading.

But have they started load limiting yet? Because ive had my smart meter for 2 months now and LL hasn't been implemented.

Yes it is possible... your geyser might be on, and a few other appliances might just push it to 21 amps or a touch over...

Actually I for instance have a prepaid meter installed and I can use as much power as I like while everyone else in the complex has these new smart meters installed. So my power stays on and is not load limited these days.

But our whole house is on a 8KW inverter so we never really use more than 8KW/30A anyway. Self imposed load limiting.
