City Power load limiting cut-off times changed

So wait, if you have a smart meter, you don't get load shed anymore during the scheduled load shedding time so long as you keep your load below the limit?

Or do you just get loadshed anyway and this is an additional restriction.

When your area is on Schedule for load shedding your lights will go off for 3 minutes thats your sign to cut your usage.
Comply for the duration of the load shedding you don't get load shedded don't comply and your lights go off with the rest of uss

Ok well that is actually not too bad.

IMO this is the most stupid implementation of a notification system someone could ever think of.

At least its not every 30 seconds anymore.

Wonder if you don't get cut at all if you are under the 21Amps already? Would be sweet. And if you don't know when you will be loadshed and thus limit your load before lights start to go off... ja nee wat!

But what if I am not at home crowd
Why is your house consuming so much electricity with no one there? And loadshedding occurs in the evening peak mostly, so someone is home at most homes or else the peak wouldn't exist

Someone definitely didn't think it through. You would think a simple beeper would be easier than turning a load on and off.

The idea is possibly better than the execution. Since I can easily manage below 21A, I would rather have the smart meter than loadshedding proper

Set the pool pump to work in the early hours of the morning. Train everyone in the house to switch off the geyser at the appropriate times (and set a reminder to put it back on afterwards!)

The thresholds shown on our meter is 2.3Kw or 4.6Kw or 6.9Kw, I changed to the 6.9Kw and then turned it off on the meter. They have only turned it back on once. I have had the meter for about a month.
But 21A is not 2.3Kw so not sure why it was initially set at 2.3Kw.
The problem with the geyser is remembering to switch it back on!
