Yeah, @porchrat, please explain what the big markup on top of the Eskom price is for if not grid maintenance and such?

It's supposed to be for grid maintenance. Which is why I consider it essential that the markup be dropped to reflect the introduction of this R200 fee.

Considering how massive electricity sales are as a portion of their budget it's clearly not all it's used for. Whether that should be the case I am not sure. I'm generally a fan of the price charged for a service being reflective of the cost of providing that service.
