Difficult choice for WP. Don't they own Newlands, as well? It'd make that stadium a massive liability if you can't get the bums on seats for WP/Stormers games.

Yes they do. But Newlands is old and apparently falling apart

Is it? I cycle past and around it a couple times a week and attend a few games a year and it seems OK? Seats are uncomfortable and you get stiff neck fast if you not sitting in the middle.

Newlands has all the heritage and things like that, but like you said its not comfortable. Cape Town stadium would be a nicer option, easier accessible and ofcourse more modern.

And not like the railway stand, if you sit high up on the 1st level. When the ball gets kicked up, it likes playing a game of Now You See It, Now You Don't.

But totally understand the financial implications involved. I always said, why don't Stormers play at Cape Town Stadium and let Ajax play at Newlands. Then at least WP Rugby will still make some sort of income

Losing 200 suites are in no means okay, especially come by contractual obligations to the suite holders as mentioned in the article. How they will upgrade the Cape Town Stadium is another concern... or could they budget to upgrade the existing Newlands without any change in relation with the building plans, regulations etc.

In the end, they cannot move until their is 300 suites at Cape Town Stadium, controversy is coming soon...

Neither WP or the Sharks will move to the respective new stadiums until the suites issue is sorted out.

Well, I don't know about the crumbling part for sure, but judging from comments it seems that way

Doesn't Ajax play at Athlone stadium?

Well Cape Town should fit the bill for ading 200 suits. It is possible, I think we will lose some capacity though. Is Soccer City sustainable by the way?

Having the games at CT Stadium will definitely have my vote as going to Newlands is always a traffic nightmare! And I can't even imagine how the trains look on day game so that is most definitely not an option..

Ajax play at Cape Town Stadium, while Santos play at Athlone. Kaizer Chiefs host most of their games at Soccer City.
