CIVH's acquisition of Vumatel approved

The Competition Tribunal of South Africa has approved the acquisition of Vumatel by the Remgro-owned Community Investment Ventures Holdings (CIVH).

Following this acquisition, CIVH will have sole control of Vumatel in addition to Dark Fibre Africa (DFA), which it already has a controlling stake in.

So all the major players now owned by a single company. What started off good has ended in another cartel/monopoly. No wonder SA never gets anywhere.

Considering they own most of the "alternative fibre" like Metrofibre and such yeah, monopoly of sort.

I wonder how this will affect prices, so far Vumatel has been fairly competitive but ofcourse Civh wants their pound of flesh (AKA Return on investment)

Single company? You know that we have a better market than some US states where laws prohibit non ISP organisations from installing their own fibre.

They still have more ISPs installing their own fibre than us.
