Hi All,
I am in the process of starting a sideline business for myself. I need to import some PVC containers for a product which I supply. Despite not being very heavy, they take up a large volume and must be shipped by sea.
My question is: Do I need a clearing agent to get my shipment from the port of Durban up to Johannesburg? Normally I Air Freight my stuff, then just go and pay the duties myself at O.R Tambo. The SAPO acts as my clearing agent in this case. I am not certain how this would apply in this instance because as much as I want it to, the ship can't get to Joburg
I think I am missing a piece of the puzzle here. Any advice would be appreciated.
