Climate change: World's hottest day since records began

Cough, cough

Think you missed the little red thing at the top that says "opinion".

Also, nowhere in that article does it say this:
The biggest ones were during the Democratic party governance, where political correctness and "ecology" is more important than forest control (tree maintenence) and fire breaks (because of CO2).

Meanwhile budgets are spent on creating "refuge" for gay people because Trump is coming!!!

So dunno why you would link to it.

Former republican representative from California blames the fires on the current Democratic government in a Fox News opinion piece. Not sure how many more red flags for bias you could get.

Never ceases to amaze how quickly these guys will jump on whatever narrative is fed to them by Rupert Murdoch.

Reminds me of old grannies sharing AI generated pictures on whatsapp thinking they are real.

Yes it's all right wing, yet in parliaments of other countries its called the whip. It's meant to hold the government accountable.

Opposition = bias. Opinion = not factual. Climate modeling = fact. Different opinion = not a scientist. A scientist = not the right one. How predictable!!

But hey, I'm sure the they/them population of LA will be pleased that money was well spent on rainbow flags, instead of maintaining water reservoirs.

It's not just mismanagement.
Ignoring the role of climate change regarding the intensity (and frequency increase) of these things and the fact that this was predicted is idiotic.

What got to me is that the moment this happened almost every major outlet and prominent social media channel was quick to double down immediately on how this disaster has nothing to do with climate change...

The irony is that the lefty idiots in charge should have doubled down on preventative measures given the climate change factor.

Just another utter clusterf**k in the US that shows how toxic politics is in dealing with reality.
Good luck to them.

Have fun trying to fight something like this, even if you have adequate water suppression and "cleaned" up the forests, brushes etc.

Fair enough, just one slight problem, this particular politician moved to Texas in 2011, 14 years ago. So do you think he has an accurate read on how things currently are in California?

A landmark compressed air energy storage (CAES) power station utilizing two underground salt caverns in Yingcheng City, central China’s Hubei Province, was successfully connected to the grid at full capacity on Thursday, marking the official commencement of its commercial operations.

The “Energy Storage No. 1” project utilizes the caverns of an abandoned salt mine, reaching up to 600 meters of depth, as its gas storage facility. This allows for a gas storage volume of nearly 700,000 cubic meters, translating into a single unit power output of up to 300 MW and a storage capacity of 1,500 MWh. The system conversion efficiency is about 70%. It can store energy for eight hours and release energy for five hours every day, and generate about 500 GWh of electricity annually.

I would say he does. Considering that the US politics (presidential and otherwise) are fought state-by-state.

Yes, he may be biased, but is he lying?

Lying, probably not, mistaken, very possibly.

Either he's lying, he's correct or you just assume he's being critical because he's a Republican.

Which is it?

If the latter, does your opinion trump mine?

I agree with you here. California is a well know area with high VPD (vapour pressure deficit). Precisely why there's a dessert on the other side of the mountains, irrespective of whether the warming is caused by natural events or humans.

They may not be "successful" at fighting something like this but the goal is to minimize the impact. And that is where their fault lies.

Simply stating that the severity of impact is due to climate change and climate change only is inaccurate.

You can be wrong and not be lying, lying is tellinh an intentional untruth.

He is a career politician, what expertise/experience does he have to make authoritative comments on firefighting strategy and climate change? Especially as to how it relates to California.

Do you think Fox News is a credible source of information that is unbiased?

Meanwhile, in the cANCer state...
Each category will be given a carbon quota, and each business in that category must apply for a slice of that carbon quota
.“Should a business exceed its carbon quota, it will be fined. If it uses less than its quota, it can be taken away and given to another business,” Le Roux said.
Even more concerning is that if a new business wants to enter a category, it will need to see if enough carbon quotas are available.
“It will create a massive fight, where big and small businesses turn on each other and businesses of the same size fight against each other,” he said.

Is the point you're making that Calfire/county/city/town firefighters do nothing preventative?

@quovadis - Key words - MINIMIZING THE IMPACT - that means actioning the proper approved mitigation procedures - like keeping reservoirs FULL of water & maintained properly, doing inspections on fire hydrants to ensure they are operational, doing backburns & clearing of underbrush and deadwood (No, NOT Dementia Joe, Nancy Pelosi or Mitch McConnell) and ensuring that there are sufficient resources, equipment & manpower to tackle any emergency or disaster (natural or unnatural) - that was NOT the case for this situation - they were caught with their panties down in their unisex bathrooms....

@Ivan Leon are you capable of presenting a position without the loaded language?

If so, then you can advise what your expectation is when the entire mountainous vegetation is dry - remove it all?

Are you of the opinion that did nothing of any of the items you mentioned?
