Another thread actually reminded me I wanted to post this last week already.

2003 - 15/04/2015

Insurance quote came back with the following:

Beyond economical repair: R 0.01

Has served me well all these years. Going to miss you my friend. I'll buy one of your younger brothers now :crying:

Mother picked up kids from school and got T-boned by an E30 BMW. Laaitjie driving had no license... Lucky no one in the bakkie got hurt. E30 I didn't take pictures of (Sorry wasn't really focused at the time)

Damn you Pitbull...

Perfect opportunity to get us the photographic proof that saturnz refuses to provide us of this aux fuel tank.

Did the E30 have an auxiliary fuel tank though?

Damn you Pitbull...

LOL!

Not even sure what capacity it was... Hit my mother pretty damn hard though. The whole front end was squashed against the windscreen. Nothing left. Even the guy from the towing company said: "If it was a sedan the car would have rolled over" So the weight of the bakkie seemed to have saved them serious injury. From what I know the laaitjie is in hospital.

Sorry about your clubcab :( What does "Beyond economical repair: R 0.01" mean?

And if he is in hospital, good, as jy nie will hoor nie, moet jy voel.

The parts to fix it cost more than the value of the car. this excludes labor. So in essence the vehicle will be written off by the insurer.

Oh, I know what that means, don't worry about that, get it all the time with broken laptops. The R 0.01 is the curious bit for me.

Wow, quite a accident there, great to hear your ok, one question i have though,

Arent bakkies built like trucks, ie the chassis and the body seperate? Ie this could be fixed up by just repairing the chassis, or is it a case that most accidents with most modern cars end up as write-off's simply due to the manufacturers wanting more money..

The Bakkie is only value at R59 900 retail. I'm sure it can be repaired as you are correct, the cab bolts off the chassis. Just not sure if the Chassis also got damaged. I have no idea.

Nice bakkies those, I had one myself. Real old-school, almost nothing to break on them yet surprisingly comfortable.

The younger brothers may look nice but they are about as reliable as an Alfa.

E30 I didn't take pictures of (Sorry wasn't really focused at the time)

It must have hit the bakkie so hard the spare fuel tank flew out. :whistling:

Once my dad had an accident with his tazz
Got smashed between 2 cars at a red light,

Car totalled, or so we thought, after 2 months got it back good as new, not sure if the tazz is also body on frame, but wait and see, maybe assessor will elect to fix it up?

Probably find they can get more money for scrapping the vehicle.

Some guy will pick that up for next to nothing and fix it himself

Glad your mom and kids are okay.

What are you going to replace it with?
