Have already designed a site for a client and now he wants a CMS of sorts included so that he can update the Newsletter page and make changes to the documents that are downloadable from his site (can see what I have done so far at www.bonafide.co.za/handa).

Have had a look at CMS from Joomla, Mambo and a host of other systems (including non-open source), but they will all require a complete re-design of the site to fit in with their CMS and are a bit overkill for what the client needs.

Anyone out there know of a system that is easily integrated into an existing site that will not change the current look and structure of the site?

Obviously willing to pay for one.

Will appreciate any help or advice on this.

Joomla and so on are not a complete rewrite - what you have to do is set it up properly which is easy depending on how your css works, or it can be very difficult :)

If it was me and it was ment to be something simple then I would just write it myself - php, mysql and tinymce as the editor, but that would just be me :)

If you have time then there are lots of tutorials on how to do all this online ...

I've written myself a seriously simple php/mysql "news" section for my site. Basically, I put in my username & password, and my latest news, and hit post.
I can send it to you if you want.

Cheers, Nick

Go for a CMS

The re-work needed to go over to a supported CMS will pay off over and over. You don't need to worry about browser support, etc any more.

Also a CMS properly separates content from presentation. You won't appreciate how much this is worth untill you've used it for a while, but you will never go back.

But if you only want a CMS for a newsletter section on an existing website, then maybe rather just add the functionality to allow the user to publish their own content in a specific section of the site. You should also look at blogging software.

P.S. Personally I am a big fan of Joomla / Mambo. :)

Thanks for the input guys. The client does not want me to re-work the whole site as he really only needs to update the newletter page. Nick, you will have PM shortly.

Moklet, if I knew how to write a script I would, buuuuuutttt..... :)

Klips, I would prefer to use something like Joomla, but it would entail a fair amount of work to make the changes... and more work means a higher cost to the client...

E107 == Best CMS by far

I've used all of them listed above by wizard, except phpWCMS

Try this. Very simple to use, and all you need is PHP. You then put one or two lines of code in to your current design and it works without dealing with a whole CMS :) An example can be viewed at heislegend.com, the "News and Updates" section is done with CutePHP
