CNN- S.Africa power cuts spark World Cup fears

It's strange, but you get to see news about this country overseas, that you don't get to see in this country. :confused:
 
Thanks to Telkom I can't stream that video properly. Can't even press pause and let it download like you can on youtube.
 
Word from our govt is that they had planned for potential power problems long ago for WC2010. My question is: If they prepared for the World Cup (insinuating they knew there was a problem), why didnt they plan for South Africa as a country? As heard on 702 news.

This really doesnt make sense to me.

If they planned for the power problems... Then I have even more of an issue, and I'm going to make myself MORE of a pest to this useless guavamint.
 
They planned for power outages and they achieved their goal of power outages.
 
Good, finally the world is waking up to the farce that is this ANC so called government..

The sooner they are all cast into the sea or whatever cesspit they emerged from the better..

It certainly sounds like a case of screw the SA citizen at the cost of making sure a few tourists have a good time.. (except those foolish enough to want to see the view from the top of table mountain). But we knew that all along..

So long as Mbkei, Zuma and other so called leaders can have a fun mutal back slapping time with other wannabe 'leaders' of African countries, us, the poor morons who fund their trips, will suffer..

Apparently the gravy train is still steam powered rather than electric...
 
The black goverment will continue to drain from the gravy train; it's when resources are dry that they become dictators to keep what little wealth the country has to the inner circle. As they have in many African countries.

No, not sad.

If this so called government cannot even look after it's own citizens it deserves nothing.

Make no mistake, the ANC cares **** all for you, me or any other tax paying citizen in this country. All they care about is their own back pocket.

The sooner people realize that the only reason the ANC pushed for the WC is political kudos the better. They care nada for the people who make this country work (i.e the tax payer)

I agree with schitz011 on this unfortunately. The ANC doesn't give a flying-fsck about any of the citizens....

Much as I'd hate to see the WC moved elsewhere, I think it might be JUST the kind of wake-up call the ANC needs to realise that it better look after its citizens or it will be out on the street quick-smart.

I doubt it will change their mindset, deals and contracts are already done. Pockets have been lined and this friends, uncle's brother has made a tidy sum already; curtiousy of you the tax payer.
 
Yeah unfortunately the rational part of my brain knows that.. :(

But thanks to this Eksdom debacle, I am now going to become very vocal. I have had enough of this useless guavamint and the blame shifting.

I am usually in the same boat, but the ANC just made an enemy out of me! And I am not afraid to be very vocal about it anymore.
 
The ANC hasn't made an enemy out of me.

I just will now no longer accept the incompetence they have so brazenly destroyed this country with. Alec Erwin is now my target, he has made an enemy out of me, esp since his is an ex-pupil of my High School, and the school does not produce morons like that. I am going to be contacting the Old Boys association to petition having his name removed from any records, and to disavow that he ever attended the school as he is an unacceptable blot on what has up till now been an exemplary alumni list.

OK, maybe enemy is a bit strong of a word, however I refuse to support their incompetence as it stands...
