Ive always been confused on how they make it so not sweet for the amount of sugar they put in. If I put in 4 teaspoons of sugar into my tea I almost gag at how sweet it is. Apparently you can put a bucket of sugar into a glass of coke and its not anywhere near as sweet.

The irony is, apple juice has more sugar in it than coke.

Apple Juice is closer to 25g while Coke has closer to 40 afaik, so almost half the sugar in applejuice. Also, applejuice probably has more fructose while Coke will undoubtedly be sucrose. Still, it's not to be sneezed at. It's a good example of how refining stuff is bad for our diets. Eating an apple won't break the bank, and you get fibre with it...

Fructose absorption from fruits is less rapid because of the presence of fiber and other phytonutrients in fruit....

Sucrose, also called table sugar, is a disaccharide consisting of one molecule of glucose linked with one molecule of fructose. Glucose has a chemical composition identical to that of fructose, but the atoms are arranged differently. Dietary sucrose is broken down into glucose plus fructose by an enzyme called sucrase present in the walls of your small intestine, and the two sugars are absorbed into your blood. An increase in blood glucose stimulates insulin secretion from your pancreas to facilitate glucose transport into your tissues, whereas fructose in your blood does not tend to stimulate pancreatic insulin production.

The secret is carbonation.

...and coca and caffeine.

A Stepan laboratory in Maywood, N.J., is the nation's only legal commercial importer of coca leaves, which it obtains mainly from Peru and, to a lesser extent, Bolivia.

Besides producing the coca flavoring agent for Coca-Cola, Stepan extracts cocaine from the coca leaves, which it sells to Mallinckrodt Inc., a St. Louis pharmaceutical manufacturer that is the only company in the United States licensed to purify the product for medicinal use.

During the 1980's, imports of coca by Stepan have ranged from 56 metric tons to 588 metric tons a year, according to figures from the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Right. A few years ago the Coca Cola company launched a bottled water. They eventually admitted that it was nothing more than bottled Thames Water and so withdrew it. Ten to one this is another scam.

Stevia is currently the most healthy sugar replacement because it comes from a plant. If it has things added to the stevia then its not natural, but if this drink tasted exactly like normal coke then i would buy it over traditional coke.

People still buy Bonaqua even though it no longer claims to be spring water.
