I'm starting to buy into this climate change business. Look at the facts, 4months ago, it was quite cold. Now, it is quite hot.

How convenient. Much like the "change of understanding" from the ice age scare in the 70s........

What would you rather have: People who begin with one idea and then stick to it no matter what the evidence says, or people that admit their mistakes and try and make the most accurate models they possibly can of our world?

Ah but no doubt you lot would've said the science was "full-proof" back in the year 2000. It brings into question how accurate the warnings we are getting now by climate change scientists...

Back then, with all the info they had at their disposable, they were coming to the correct conclusions. Unfortunately its impossible to know for sure if you have each and every bit of info required to make a 100% correct conclusion. Luckily, the actual facts and evidence remain the same. So long as scientists keep working at it, keep pointing out each others mistakes, the theories will get closer and closer to being 100% correct.

But noooooo, all you see is they made a mistake back then, and so now they cant be trusted. Again I must ask, would you rather have someone who can admit their mistakes and thereafter improve the theory, or someone who blindly carries on?

no, no they're right this time and any dissidence must be suppressed.

MMGW is real. Sure they get predictions wrong but they'll come up with different theories to explain that but the bottom line remains the same. The reality of MMGW. That is unquestionable no mater the weather, mistaken forecasts, basically anything......

They've made a lot more mistakes since then though. This is far from an isolated incident.

It's no surprise that predicting climate is very tricky, especially when talking about specific changes in specific regions (i.e non-globally). Two facts remain: 1) James Hansen's original models in the 1980s have turned out to be very accurate in determining global trends even until now. 2) The fact that man made emissions are responsible for the current warming is not uncertain at all.

What is uncertain is specifically how the warming will manifest in different places around the world.

And I'm sure tons of mistakes were made in the development of nuclear fission as well. Or in the development of modern medicine. Mistakes are part of the learning process. Unfortunately not everyone can be as perfect as you would like them to be.

Hehehe, I saw a great quote about that kind of thing today:

"If it's to hot it's global warming, if it's too cold it's global warming, if it rains too much it's global warming, if there's a drought it's global warming. Don't know about you, but in Canada we call it the seasons."

The trick is to dress warmly.......

I walked to work on Thursday and Friday because my car was snowed in. It wasn't too bad. Not sure what the fuss is about.
