They have to throw her under the bus. She should have known its not possible to have any kind of sensible conversation about colonialism. Fact is she's a loose cannon, always has been, and the DA cannot afford to be perceived as racist if they want to expand their voter base. It really doesn't matter that what Zille said was not racist or defending racism or saying colonialism was a good thing.

It's like if I come to your house and lock you and your family in the spare bedroom for years. I steal all your stuff but I also buy lots of new stuff - for myself of course. Even though you have no electricity or toilets in the room, I do let one of you out on regular basis to clean up and do hard labour and then lock you up again. After years of this you finally [-]fight[/-] negotiate your way out of the room and get control of your house back and I say yes, but locking you up wasn't all bad, look at the positives, you get to share my new couch and tv, see, locking you up for years was beneficial in some ways.
