She responded in exactly the perfect way IMO. With a simple statement of the truth. The moron in question was trying to be a victim of something that happened 200 years ago.

Well, poor (mostly) black people in the squatter camps have mostly not had running water, us (not whites) people in the suburbs have grown up with running water, now we will feel what they have been feeling for years. We will need to stand in a line to get water. That is a fact. HTF do you take offense at something that is actually just a simple truth?
People in the suburbs also pay for running water. If you pay for a service you should get it.
The poor should be uplifted not the rest of us dragged down to their level so that we can celebrate our equality.

They were actually put into concentration camps and died enmasse.

Mbeki AIDS denialism was probably worse than apartheid (in terms of how many died as a result of it), there are many things that was actually far worse than apartheid, where millions of people died.
Well Mbeki didn't give anyone aids. People should take more responsibility for their own lives.

And your whole post is true, we don't get it for free. But those are people that barely has a roof over their heads. Why, I do not know, they might just be lazy, or they got dealt a **** hand. Who are you to judge? That is anyway not what my post was about. My post was about people like you and aunty Zille taking offense when those people say that we will now be feeling what they have for years. It's not untrue.

Maybe we (me very well included) will have a bit more sympathy for them now. Unless they are criminals, then f them.

Zuma's presidency hasn't been all bad

the country generated a trade surplus for the first time in years and I went to the soccer world cup under his presidency

I also managed to buy a property which doubled in value

Switch around the subjects and apply the same logic.

Lets tax poor people at 40% of their income. Then they can feel what rich people have been feeling for years. It's not untrue.

I have sympathy. Shame their lifes suck and I feel sorry for them.
Then again I know a builder who has done some work for me but lives in a shack. He has the skills, he can probably source enough building materials even if it's used stuff to build himself a proper house, but he doesn't. People that struggle that much is because they don't want to put in the work to better themselves.

We can discuss that when the subject of tax comes up. I can also say whatabout some or other unrelated junk, but that has nothing to do with the subject at hand.

Well is that not a sweeping statement. Are your builder now representing all poor people?

+1 But are you allowed to point that out?
