I think I've actually asked this before a few years back.

I'd like to register a .com domain for personal use. (email, etc)

Who would be the best for hosting that gives me control over email addresses, subdomains (e.g. I'd like a subdomain that redirects to home-assistant, vpn.etc). I don't know if its still possible to have email's, etc hosted by google - so I can use their mail interface.

My "home" ISP is currently Atomic - with no intention to move - but - obviously I'd need to route the subdomain through either my dynamic IP, or request a static IP.

namecheap.com has a promo for new .com registrations ($10.90 with promo code HONEY)

If you don't intend on hosting any web content and plan on using Google for mail then I suggest using cloudflare DNS.

A static IP from Atomic would be the easiest option

You can use Google Apps for email, but its not free anymore like the old days. Those lucky enough to have registered years ago have been grandfathered in the free plan.

Sadly, I was registered - and canned everything with Google Apps - now to start again. I must check if there's any benefit to having Google One - we pay about R2k a year.
