Comcast plans on bringing multi-gig internet speeds to 34 cities across the US by the end of this year, and will later expand its reach to more than 50 million households by the end of 2025. According to a press release, the company has already started rolling out 2-gig speeds over its broadband network in Colorado Springs, CO; Augusta, GA; Panama City Beach, FL; and Philadelphia, PA.

Customers in these cities will also get to take advantage of upload speeds that Comcast says are five to 10 times faster than what it currently offers. The upload speeds appear to max out at 200Mbps, even with the new Gigabit x2 plan, but Comcast intends to change that. It’s launching multi-gig symmetrical speeds next year, which will enable multi-gig speeds for both downloads and uploads.

While symmetrical uploads and downloads are expected with fiber optic internet, cable has lagged behind. But with DOCSIS 4.0, a high-bandwidth broadband standard that allows for up to 10Gbps downloads and 6Gbps uploads, providers like Comcast can enable symmetrical connections over cable. Comcast is currently in the process of transitioning to the new standard and achieved 4Gbps upload and download speeds during a test in January.

O man, that's awesome. We're still far off here, with the majority of people on 20 Mbps.

All I want is 1 Gbps, come one OpenServe!

I can get 8gig connection for 67.50/pm. Seems like they are using a strange connection type that just provide multiple gigabit connection at one address. Or they are providing a cheap router that has 8gig input but have 1x2,5 gig and 3 1gig ports and the rest through wifi

Its Cox. They suck. Cox. or so they say.
I had Cox and they do indeed suck that. Their "uncapped" was 1.2TB and then they would charge you more over that.. Now on Tmobile 5G but hoping to move to Google fibre once it rolls out ineighborhood.

I used Comcast for about 8 years. I don’t think I ever had an issue with their internet, but their cable TV boxes left a lot to be desired. The provider I use today uses a TiVo.

Edit: Also just remembered that I have Comcast/Xfinity at my house today still. So far so good.

That sounds like bonding. Where does the bonding happen? On site? Bonding doesn't work well for most services.
