How about giving us 2/5GB after hours as well as per the new RED data pricing?

I am quite happy with my Cell C deal as is - I really don't feel like using matchsticks to keep my eyes open between midnight and 05.00am just so I can use my data....aka Vodasum

you telling me you can't stay up longer than your "bed time" just ONCE to blow 2GB on a few extra downloads?

sounds like sour grapes to me :erm:

problem is, some of us do work at 0200 in the morning on projects, and some of us do notice how incredibly quiet the CellC network is at this time (thus no additional strain on already paid for backhaul bandwidth just sitting idle), and some of us are considering switching to the Vodacom deal for future needs because of this.

so yes, an amicable response for nighttime bandwidth from CellC will be in good strategy. I dont expect it will take them too long. And if they really crunch their numbers, they could offer shaped, torrent blocked, uncapped at these hours without causing problems on their network IMHO - even if at additional cost to me.

Man I would love them to come up with a way to package the "dead" time on their network.

Something like 5:1, so if you have a bundle or data package for every 5 gig's you use only 1 comes off.

how about free out of bundle usage between 12:00 and 06:00 and roll over of unused data (wishful thinking on the first part) :D

Its fine, RED can have their moonlighting. I'm keen to resign another contract with woosh in a year for the same price, unlike RED who told me that the pipe dream is indeed unsustainable and will not be available for new signups after 1 May.

That got me for a second, resign meaning to give notice. Then I read resign, meaning to sign again. So I see what you mean now. I see this late night bandwidth deal as utter toss! VC cannot claim to be "half price" if that discount is only available for 25% of the day. If Cell C were to say that each user can get an extra 10GBs only between 03h15 and 03h30, would they be allowed to claim 1/5 the price of anyone else? I hardly think so. And for that, the night owl is not really part of the deal. It's sugar.

What is not sugar is the carry-over - that's real.

Yes the carry over would be nice as well.
Been posted in another thread here about that ;)
Come on Lars!!!

Telkom (Whellbarrow), Vodacom (New colors with old engine), CellC (Black with added WOOOOOSH)

There's definitely now a stronger case for carry-over.
#1 Alleviate month-end congestion
#2 Match red's offer

Nothing wrong with pressing CellC to match VC's late night surfing deal! Maybe that way I could actually DL a file or 2 from CellC's overloaded network!

Got to agree and it would increase the value proposition. Basically vodacom trying to cash in on a time when the network is very quiet. Can CellC Guru forward this suggestion to CEll C.

What about an uncapped throttled connection during their dead time? Preferably faster than the MTN 128kbps, something like 512kbps/1024kbps? Surely this wouldn't impair the network's performance during those off-peak hours...

Iburst and MTN has (is having) had problems getting this to work properly. So I doubt that Cell C will want to burn their fingers with this. Would be nice though, yes.

@Pavan nice idea. If what ajax said is true, then not possible in near future unless they surprise us.
I would say 384kbps min uncapped would be ok for those hours.
