Communications minister interview: What's happening with Starlink in South Africa?

Yes but not while In motion, which was my point. But anyway you never actually argue against my points only strawma 's and insults

Why would motion be a problem?

These are LEO satellites. There’s some tricky routing and balancing happening with them considering they zip around the earth in 90 minutes. You moving means nothing.

It does have an impact on latency and speeds and such, but yeah the product still works pretty damned well from my understanding.

We want free money! Paid for by our citizens. Then they can get Starlink.\

Was talking to someone in the industry who said they're very sure the big guys at MTN, Vodacom, and other large ISPs are paying a lot of "favors" to Govt officials to make sure Starlink doesn't see the light of day here. The impact to them will be high...
That rabbit hole goes deep- trouble is, once you go down it, it's Hotel California

Ah you miss the point, the main point, point is self ownership.

If North Korea can do it so can we

1. Lte - controlled by one party ????? I can build my own lte infrastructure( communities can do that)

2. They don't need to know how it works ??? Well I argue its better for us if we had the know how also.no Brainer

3. Oversees players yes , but when it comes down to it we can take possession of the local equipment ( you missed my point here)

4.Lol, what ? Hihi
but LTE sucks. We are already I’m the 5G era.

Hihi, first I need you to give me 5 remote areas that meets this criteria you put fourth

Namakwa District Municipality in the Northern Cape. Look it up. The biggest district municipality that is so sparsely populated (115,842) there are only 23 police stations in the entire district which comprises 126,836 km2.giving it a population density of less than 1 person per square km.

Do these communities have access to electricity and
water?

Yes, the small towns of 1000 to 5000 people do but many remote farms and schools have been off grid for decades in the Namakwa District Municipality. And it's 100 km between towns with no LTE. Cell drops off 10 km out of any town off the N7 and N14. Tracker doesn't work off those roads except in towns.

Many such small towns in ZA. No internet. Bugger-all.

Seriously, who gives a crap about ownership. Get everyone internet access, as quickly as we can. Starlink would be a game changer for rural communities and remote locations.
Ladywhoeverthefnckyouare: you're a troll. Mindless. Definitely NOT an economist. Are you TheChamp in pink?

I only concern myself with welfare economics. Rest of economics is about profit maximization through price, output etc it is depressing

It doesn't care about humans, only firms.
Great, the pseudo-science that is critical humanities.

It does. Any wireless technology works while in motion but at reduced efficiency. Starlink also needs to be kept aligned.

North Korea how? You know even how you poop gets controlled there?

ease legal requirement / restriction is not your type, right?

make other people's lives difficult that is what you love, correct?
So Dreamking Inc has a ECS and ECNS license and wanted to comply with regulations. Dreamking Inc disposes of 30% equity to comply. ICASA now scrap these regulations to make Elon Musk happy. Is Dreamking Inc happy?
