I find that (somewhat) reassuring, but only because it came from you, dominic.

the delay by itself is the screw-up...this is not going to affect the conversion of
telkom
neotel
vodacom
mtn
cell c
swiftnet
wbs / iburst
sentech

which is likely to be completed in the first week of december. it makes it that much harder to get into the market when you eventually do get the appeal dismissed.

while the appeal is pending (assuming that altech or someone else do not manage a succesful intervention) VANS will not in theory be entitled to spectrum - that is huge if ICASA goes ahead and auctions off the balance of 2.6 & 3.5 GHz spectrum

heh - bear in mind this is an appeal to a full bench (i.e. 3 judges) so this decision if it were to go against them could also potentially be appealed to the Supreme Court of Appeal.

A week to go. Just one week and those licenses would have been issued!
i know the press are saying this but it is not really true. I know from ICASA that that gazette was going to be withdrawn in favour of all licensees being converted to IECNS and IECS in the first week of December

Who the hell said yes in the poll?

Probably Ivy's offspring. Oh wait, they too stupid to use computers if their mother is anything to go by intelligence wise..

Yes Ivy, I am calling you a complete and utter moron with no sense (no I said sense not cents). That's putting it very politely.

dominic, do you whether the MoC or DoC has actually filed notice with the court that they will appeal or is this just posturing? It is highly likely that Ivy and her cronies will be out of a job fairly soon.

i also like to believe that there will be a [to use a phrase which has recently entered the public discourse] political solution

notice of appeal http://www.ellipsis.co.za/?p=284 - i used caps on that page just for you

Meaning that they'll appeal just again and tie everybody up for as long as possible?

Various colorful and words of good pedigree springs to mind now...

yah.. the fact that she won't be around soon makes me wonder about why she is appealling when icasa didn't. She really doesn't like vans eh :p

Poison Ivy prefers the black private protected taxi with those flashing blue lights - the only disadvantage to Poison Ivy is that she doesn't get much sleep en route and sometimes her doughnuts splatter on the windscreen when the brakes are applied - that doesn't happen very often though....

Now that I've had a bit of time to digest this, and calm down somewhat...

This useless stupid cow needs to be gotten rid of, her managed liberalisation policy has proven time and time again to be useless and of negative benefit to this country. Its a pity we can't sue someone in her position for being a complete moron, and for the negative consequences she has brought to the economy.. I think a very conservative number that she needs to be sued for (in her personal capacity) is around R50billion?... I'm sure she's stashed that kind of money away from her little gravy train...

She must be having some kind of desease. I think if I understand it right then it can be called mad cow desease.

God knows what strange bugs one can pick up from a muti concoction

Eish you people - leave the poor woman alone. Nothing is going to come out of your posturing.

FBF nearly finished :D

**EDIT: Couldnt we initiate a class action lawsuit against her/them (DoC) - I mean come on. nothing we say on this forum will mean anything unless we back our words with actions. Surely there must be some law boffins out there who can help us

I find it strange that the minister can appeal when ICASA didn't. ICASA were quite happy to accept the ruling and get on with the job. If the minister appeals all on her own, I imagine that weakens the case against the VANS and makes the minister look like the incompetent she is.

damn... Will ICASA hold off on granting licenses until the appeal is heard?
Can !CASA really refuse to issue licences it has promised to issue after publicly stating that !CASA will not appeal, if !CASA doesn't issue those licenses next week, then I think VANs should collectively sue !CASA, and at the same time go after Poison Ivy in her personal capacity for breaking the law by undermining !CASA's independence [as evidenced by !CASA's refusal to issue the licenses next week]. This would also give Stalin-Mafole a thing or two to think about and perhaps curtail her plans to become the world's dominatrix.

Considering that Thabo Mbeki is potentially facing his ANC-executioner this weekend for 'alleged' prosecutorial-tinkering, then I don't see how Poison Ivy can manage to dodge similar bullets.
