We're all quick to complain and moan when linux support takes a back seat. I've been so impressed with HP's drivers I thought I'd share it by starting a thread where we list also other companies or products that provide or come with good linux drivers. I suppose these drivers will often get more attention for Ubuntu purely because of popularity.

I really appreciate that HP released Ubuntu 11.04 drivers within less than a month of the Ubuntu release (maybe it was less than a week, I didn't check too frequently) and it works. Again. With a GUI. This means I will buy an HP again just because it works well in linux, if not better.

OS:
Ubuntu Natty 11.04
Product:
HP Printers (M1212nf)
Driver version:
hplip 3.11.5
Location:
http://hplipopensource.com/
Usage:
Networked printer, never plugged in USB. Scanned, Printed. I do not use Fax from PC.
Works:
Scan, Print, System Tray Icon.
Notes:
The drivers in the ubuntu repositories don't seem to ever work for me. The official ones work perfectly.

Samsung have great Linux support too but I'm impressed with HP. Got a very old HP 3670 scanner (think its 6-7yrs old) that previously was never supported under Linux but by accident I plugged it into my 11.04 install (not added packages) and the scanner worked out of the box - very impressive as the scanners chipset is based on the WinModem concept.
