Hi all

Anybody know of any recruiters who specilize in finding IT jobs/other high tech jobs outside sa?

Got shortlisted once for one based in Angola once, didnt get it due to not speaking pourtuges, and was wondering if they do exist and accepting applicants

Always wanted to try it, I think theres a very narrow window that it can still be done during, and for me at least its closing fast.

I meet lots of Staffers at the Angolan consulate and on flights who work on the rigs. Usually on a "3 months on, 3 months off basis". Can check for you who recruits them if you want. Should be at consulate next week

Life threatening/ptsd intense?

On the fpso's there is no smoking, no booze and there is regular checks for content like porn also. You will typically be on the platform for 6 weeks - 3 months at a time. So they are largely populated by a whole bunch of horny guys. The only way on or off is by boat or helicopter.

Depending on your job, some of them are life threatening and stressful, others menial and boring

The rigs are worse.

Think they don't exist, nobody knows anything about those.....

They do, I got my visa and am travelling tomorrow, but all the guys I met were self employed or sales people. No offshore or oil workers this time

Angola.

IT Solutions, vehicle tracking, Satellite Internet and digital signage. We also supply valves for the oil industry. Times are tough here because of the oil prices.

Met a medic who was going offshore. There are entire production facilities offshore, with grunts, machinists, plumbers, electricians....etc. Google FPSO to give you an idea of what's involved.

Alternative opportunities can be had in the mining areas further north, where Afrikaans is quite common
