Maybe they are but my point was never having heard of them as a frontend developer. I know there are more but those are kind of like the main ones I guess. I prefer Gulp because it's easier to read compared to grunt.
I've seen a few articles about people moving to using node scripts as you say. Webpack is the way forward for me although I do use node scripts here and there.

I understood, was merely pointing out the fact that the JS community is innovating a lot (very unstable) at the moment. New tools every week. So 5 years in front-end(JS) terms is like 20 years in C#/Java terms something like that.
Question begs, what happened to 3 months probation? I mean really, a day?
That's what happens when times are tough and they want very good candidates and cannot take a chance with a palooka. In other words not even being able to learn on the job is good enough anymore.
