Vumatel acquisition of Herotel gets Competition Commission nod

The Competition Commission has greenlit Vumatel's proposed acquisition of Herotel and recommended that the Competition Tribunal approve the deal with conditions.

To address competition concerns, Vumatel has agreed to remain an open-access network and continue to provide services on terms that are transparent and non-discriminatory.

Where is Frogfoot at? Saw them in PTA many years ago and heard about diaasters in the EC.

Vumatel keep upping their prices to appease those who have invested with more returns. I get it, but here we are as customers are taking a beating.

Over R1k for 100Mbps soon.

Granted, I have seen them repair issues on request at 8PM and my ISP has been brilliant.

I do know that others have not had that experience.

This is bad. Competition commission asleep at the wheel again.

We are heading to a duopoly of fibre providers, where Openserve and CIHV/Vodacom own and control everything.

It will be like the Telkom days all over again.

Only a big announcement? Why not a "Maziv" announcement?

Will Herotel become Open Access after acquisition?
