Over the weekend the people in the offices neighbouring ours decided to do some painting. And to clean out the cable racks from all "useless old cable remnants"

Unfortunately they also dragged some of our cabling out.

We called Telkom PABX services - they restored our extensions that were not working within 3 hours.

We called Telkom ADSL - after 20 minutes of "your call is imporrtant to us..." they answered, took the complaint, gave a call log number and we waited. That was 10:30

Last night 18:00 a Telkom techie called - can they do it right now, or would tomorrow 8:00 suit us better.

They were here 8:15, and the ADSL line has been replaced and is working since 10:30.

10:45 Telkom QA allready phoned to confirm all is well.

Congratulations to these guys!

If only management would have the same attitude in delivering service. Then ADLS would have been excellently priced as well, more people would use it and that would drive down costs even more!

To the techies: Keep up your great service in spite of managment playing games with telecoms in SA.

South Africa needs World Class Broadband at World Competitive Prices.

I can also relate to your experiance. I have no grips with the Telkom techies... Always prepared to help in any way. With my ADSL installation, they had to run a cable through my roof. Normally, it is not policy for them to do this.

Big ups to the Telkom ADSL techies...

The techies are always friendly and will go out of their way to help a person out... they are peepz like us just as pis*ed off with Telkom as us, but they still do a great job, it's being buggered around from the top that stuffs Telkom's public image up. I'm sure not even these guys would buy Telkom shares.

Go Techies! [:)]

Yep, I agree - it's too bad there's probably no easy way to let the techies know how good a job they're doing. We had one round today to do a line test, asked us what our projected installation date was, we said about 25 days from today. He said he'd try and cut that number by 10-15 days, let's just hope it works!

I ordered my ADSL during 2002 just shortly after ADSL was launched.
And after 3 weeks tekkie arrived that evening to install the line and the modem at my home.

Then after a connection test with his laptop and he said the line is working and he's gone with the wind.
And I was struggling to fix 'my own connection' until morning and had no success.
Guess what.. the problem was the telkom's authentication server!!! [:(!]

Except for all the people I've heard complain about techies forgetting stuff like filters, splitters, etc. they are always curteous and polite.

Most of the time the problem is just getting one to your premises. Business users may have a bit higher priority but that is no excuse for these long delays.
