Ok this is an odd question. I’m asking because hopefully someone here has done or needed to do something similar and can give some advise or tips.
I want to buy a new house. According to OpenServe coverage map, the House falls well within 40mbps VDSL and 100mbps LTE coverage. No fibre or no fibre coming soon at all.
I work from home so a solid internet connection is important.
I called Telkom and they confirmed VDSL is covered.
However speaking to the owner of the house, they have 2mbps ADSL and have been struggling for a year to upgrade. They say they exhausted every provider and every avenue they can but simply cannot get faster than 2mbps ADSL.
They also tell me that 2/3 months ago, fibre was installed to the opposite corner of our block. Probably 100m from our house to be.
Question is. How do I without a shadow of a doubt get confirmation that I CAN get decent ADSL or VDSL or whether fibre will ever be available? Maybe these owner just didn’t try hard enough
they old and stuff as well.
If I buy this house and we can’t, it’s going to be a huge and expensive mistake. I cannot just take the word of a telephone agent.
Any ideas?
