:mad:Please can anyone help me with the problem. I have a Trendnet router connected by Ethernet to my desktop PC and whilst I can pickup the signal on my iPad in the lounge I am unable to get the WD to see the router. If I can't do it this way then I will have to have a cable installed in the attic. BTW I live in a townhouse and the room with the router is next to the lounge, one wall away.

No, I think it's in the region of 2.4, but thanks for your input.

Check the region settings. My dell computer shipped with a wifi card with only USA region setting... took some work to get it to connect to ZA legal frequencies...

Both the AP and the client/station need to be in the same region, or the AP might broadcast on "illegal" frequency for the region of the client/station.

Hi There,
I would suggest the cable route. Not that getting the wireless to work is not important but a cable will give you a better throughput. I would also not go through the attic.
Why not drill a whole through at floor level and run a cable through putting a LAN connection box in at either side of the wall.

Regards

Tim
