Connecting 2 separate locations via ADSL

Hi guys,

I'm not sure if this topic has been discussed elsewhere...
Is there a way to permanently connect 2 locations when both have ADSL installed (i.e. in stead of a leased line connection between the 2).
Is this where VPN comes in, is it worth it and does the dynamic IP cause problems?

this can be done with not to much effort and the dynamic ip can be worked arround
