I currently have the explora 2 connected to a swithbox running from a quad lnb, also connected to the switch box is the old non HD compact decoder (xtraview) and the OVHD decoder, both feeding off the universal outputs on the switch box. All is working fine as is, I have now bought 2 x 5s HD compact decoders to replace the current xtraview and add a 2nd extraview. The problem I have is that when the 5s HD decoder is connected to the switchbox via universal output it gives a weak or no signal message and when it is connected to a unicable output, the explora and 5s decoder is conflicting. Can anyone offer a solution to this please?

The 5S decoders are probably the worst MC have ever released. ...... But there pretty much nothing you can do about it.

The "switchbox" you are talking about ---- is it a 24-1Z MC switch? If so, that switch has 4 unicable ports and 4 universal ports. BUT it requires a good power supply to work properly!

The 5S defaults to using userbands 0,1 ( The decoder has TWO tuners, which is different from the previous single view decoders). You have to ensure that ALL the decoders do not share userbands and associated frequencies, and that there is at least an Explora available connected to one of the unicable ports for power.

The Explora uses userbands 0,1,2, so these should NOT be used for any other decoders. Set the 5S decoders to use any userbands other than those used by the Explora, from 3 onwards. Make sure you use the correct frequencies associated with each userband. DO NOT share userbands between decoders.

You cannot use the universal ports on the switch to feed the 5 series decoders.

Thanks Geoff.D

Yes I am connected to the 24-1Z MC switch and the explora 2 is connected to a unicable port, should I therefore change the userbands on the 5 series decoders when connected to the unicable ports?

Yes and connected to unicable ports. Have you got the info page that came with the 24-1Z switch? It lists the userbands and frequencies available. Set each 5S decoder one at a time. Leave the Explora 2 which I presume is the primary at defaults on 0,1,2.

Unfortunately I do not have the info page of the 24-1Z switch, any idea where I can download it from?
