My ISP: Telkom Internet
Connection: ADSL 512 3GB

I seem to have a problem connecting to http://freedns.afraid.org/ on my ADSL connection provided by Telkom Internet.

I get this error in my web browser...

Gateway Timeout
The following error occurred:
Code:
A gateway timeout occurred. The server is unreachable. Retry the request.

I have contacted Joshua, the owner/admin of the http://freedns.afraid.org/ site, and he says that he has not blocked any IPs and his servers/sites are functioning perfectly.

Users on other ADSL connections provided by IS or Verizon don't seem to have this connection problem.

It seems like the problem is related only to SAIX/Telkom Internet!! What could it be? Some type of routing issue?

Who can I contact to fix this problem, as I rely on the http://freedns.afraid.org/ site quite a bit?

Regards,
Chris.

I have the same problem with IS sometimes. I think SA's dns servers are a bit messed when it comes to trying to get the correct ip for afraid.org... As i know when they were having DoS attacks, josh change some ip stuff...

I dont have any trouble at university but that goes through TENET not SAIX or IS...

Yeah, the DDoS attacks on FreeDNS happened a while ago... I don't need that the problem I'm having is related to DDoS attacks.

I am using 196.25.1.11 and 196.43.1.11 as my DNS servers.

Are there any other DNS servers that I can try??

P.S. At work, we use uncapped ADSL from MWeb, and I am ABLE to connect to the FreeDNS.afraid.org site from there, no problem.

You can try the www.opendns.com servers, but this sounds like strange, I've got the same line and ISP as you have and I can open the site ;)
