Start Time: 19:08:00
End time: 19:08:05
Download Size: 204800 bytes
Time Delta: 5.572821855545 seconds
Download Speed: 36 KBytes/s
Line Speed: 288 kbits/s

WTF!?? 288kbps on the 256kbps package!! And only yesterday I was lucky to get 20kbps. Now is this just because all the 128/512k users are being "upgraded" or is this here to stay??

288kbps on the 256kbps package could really work for me :) BUT, something tells me from past history that this is not going to last.

Since they started the 256k upgrade I had k@k speeds, still have, or at least I am getting 128k speeds. Thing is, I'm paying double (about triple) was 128/256 users pay. So I waited patiently for a week and logged a complaint yesterday. Hopefully I'll get 2 weeks credit for having to be happy with 2kb/s

However, I can definatly see faster speeds locally, so if things do not improve after our scheduled upgrade, I'd rather move to ADSL, then I know I'll get the speeds and pings I want and because international will be capped after 3 gig of traffic, it sure as hell beats the 1.6kb/s average I have to be happy with now....

My porn is taking ages to download!

Well for us 128 upgraded folks...Local seems quite good (12KB/s) but international is hard limited to 5KB/s. Hell I can get better than that from a dial-up.

hmmm wait and see.

Fixed so far (possibly)
-Packet loss
-Local bandwidth much better
-latency seems slightly better (and more consistent)

Not Fixed (actually worse)
International BW

Hmmm... yes international is dog slow - seems hardcapped at 4.5KB for me. Oh well, at least having fast local traffic is a very positive development, probably more so for business users. I don't think it's reasonable or fair to expect international traffic to always be at the maximum, however, you would expect to sometimes approach it during off-peak times and definitely not have a hard cap on it. I could live with getting slow international throughput for brief periods once in a blue moon if the network was very busy or there was some sort of problem, but it's definitely not acceptable to be permanently limited to 4.5KB.

very much like being told your car can drive 300kmh in the city but on the highway you must ride 80 with the same 300kmh car. theres just nowhere to go at 300kmh in the city.

GF, we're all driving 120-160 on the highway in cars that can do 200+ . Left lane 128K, middle 1 256 and the fast lane 512. Now, having travelled the N1 between JHB and PTA daily from '89 till last year, I know there's places where the left lane flies while the fast lane gets stuck. Looks like same thing is happening here too :) I'll rather not comment on my current speeds. Seen other ppl ruining their experience by getting vocal about it, but watch out for the f*ckers passing on the left LOL

My speeds on the Mintek Tower, with a 128k package have seemed to have drastically improved on local and international from about 10pm, 2 hours ago and counting..

MMMmm - getting between 90 and 110 kbs at http://geek.sh/speed.php but browsing remains abysmal - between 50kbs and 900 bytes (for local sites). Running it in parallel with an isdn line shoes that sucktech have a million miles still to go - and 1 September is coming fast

what he *points to Rodent* said... not only did we have to wait... we had to pay to wait - no good...

With Rodent on this one.

Thats probably the sheer dumbest most incredibly stupid, irritating garbage I have ever heard on this forum freeek. No offense intended, but get real. They make us pay for their crap after lying through the teeth for months. And then when they finally get close, but not quite to what it should have been we are meant to be appreciative?

You probably say thank you and have a good day to Hijackers too.

For a moment there you sounded like my wife [}:)] but then I realised I don't have to pay her while I practise patience

What? Are you implying that because we live in South Africa we should be happy with **** service?

Why shouldn't I moan? Why shouldn't I be greedy? Aren't those things the basis upon which things are improved? If everyone were just content, would there be any innovation? Would there be any decent service?

South African consumers have to start demanding, or otherwise we'll always just "love in South Africa" as you say. Without demand there's no reason for improvement.

You think if nobody complained about Sentech's service we'd be better off now? The only reason they're working on this, is because we started making a racket, and started complaining, and their sales dropped due to that.
