hi please help iv tried everything but my decoder just wont work.
I have a HD PVR 2P and sharing the dish with my inlaws who have an explora. I don't know what a LNB Cable is- there is 1 cable that goes into Satellite in 1(SatCR) and the other cable RF out. everything was working fin until yesterday there was load shedding. the date is wrong because I pressed reset to factory settings but the footprint message wont go away
please help:erm:
NEVER hit the reset to factory defaults option, UNLESS you have very clear information that it is required! Too many things will reset to defaults which are crucial when you are sharing an antenna and LNB with someone else, ESPECIALLY an Explora decoder.
So forget the swopping of cables. Unless you have actually removed the cables, there should be no need to do something like that.
Is your HDPVR2P combined in XV with your in-laws?
Start with these simple checks.
(1) What type of LNB is installed in the antenna? A TWIN LNB together with a MC ES switch version 5-2, or a SLNB?
(2) Go to the network settings pages and verify that the HD PVR2P is set up for SATCR working. At the moment it is a good idea NOT to set it to SATCR Universal but to SATCR standard. The default on the decoder is not SATCR.
(3) Next you need to know what userbands and frequencies the in-laws Explora is set to use. If this was also reset to defaults, these will probably by userbands 0,1,2.
(4) If the above is correct, set your HD PVR2P to use userbands 3,4.
How to set userbands?
Press "menu" on the remote, select advanced options, Network setup.
The Home network screen will be displayed. go to item 3 and change the LNB type to SATCR or SATCR universal ( SATCR is best at the moment). Then press the white button on the remote. a new screen will appear which will allow you to change the user bands for tuner 1 and 2. Make sure you
do not select any user bands used by the Explora. If the Explora is at default then select userband 3 for tuner 1 and userband 4 for tuner 2.
Now at least, the decoder will complete its reboot cycle. You may however still have other things to fix after the factory default. SAVE the settings after completing the process. Reboot the decoder.
