AFAIK, some but not all 975 chipset Intel boards support conroe, but I'm not sure at all. I think werner and ShockG might know.

As for the socket, they'll still use the 775 socket ;)

*******, Core2 CPU's still use Socket 775.

In terms of chipsets, ATM it is the 975X, but not just any 975X. I have a Intel 975X Bad Axe board, but it doesnt support Core 2. Only later revisions of the same board support Core 2. I have a very early revision. I have asked some suppliers about when they will be getting boards that do support Core 2 and so far they have said that they dont know when they will be ggetting stock.

ATM the only board that does support Core 2 is the Intel 975X Bad Axe, but only the later revisions, which as yet, I haven't seen.
