Constitutional Court to decide if parents can smack their children

The Constitutional Court will on Thursday (29 November), consider the question of whether it is lawful for South African parents to use 'reasonable chastisement' when disciplining their children.

The government stepping in to set the standards for parenting? What could go wrong?

They are going to get bogged down on the issue of what is "reasonable"... this is not a discussion that should be happening.

Rather should be, are existing laws criminalising child abuse sufficient? And what constitutes child abuse?
Better to discuss what is DEFINITELY not allowed, rather than what is allowed.
