If we cannot deliver fixed line services affordably in this country then there will always be something off in the way telecoms work in this country. Everybody is clamouring for wireless because it can bypass the evil overlord Telkom's domain but it doesn't really. It just gives the service providers a sense of control over their clients that they cannot dream of with Telkom in the mix as things stand today.

Our telecoms are crippled by the fact that there aren't any proper players in the telecoms market to punch Telkom on the nose from time to time. Why? Government is the protectorate of all things Telkom.

Fixed line telecoms services are the classic cornerstones of a society. The rest comes in to fill the gaps. We are doing everything so typically "African" in South Africa that it is plain sickening!

Dialup Internet should have been flat rated a long time ago, but Telkom is raking in the money from its own cash cow! Why is government so stupid? I don't think government is stupid... I think it is corrupt...

We are stuck in the Bermuda triangle of world telecoms because government doesn't want to move. It is being paid (apart from its shares in Telkom that is) to be a sturdy rock for Telkom to polish its fancy shoes on...
