If this provider is known about here, then rather this just a recommendation.
After finally getting sick of Contabo, (I was a loyal customer for 2 years), the past few weeks, I've had non stop network connectivity issues with pings timing out, and after contacting supporting they said they knew about it, and are working in it, but this persisted. Eventually they suspended my instance for running an "illegal" copy of Windows.
Apparently BYO licenses are not allowed, and to get a Windows VPS, the cost is more than Linux. I was under the impression that it wasn't recommended, but not outright a suspend-able offense.
My Windows license was Legitimate. Just didn't get it through them. Eventually I regained access to my suspended instance, and got all my Data off, and then cancelled with them.
I stumbled across another lesser known provider called Netcup, They have 4 core, 8gb 256GBSSD machines located in Germany for just over R100/pm. People were giving them favourable reviews, so I thought I give them a try. After paying, my instance was set up a few hours later, and I must say it's been rock solid... Even with CPU usage at 30% on Contabo, my instance was slow, sluggish, and processing audio would cup, and cut. It looks like their machines are overstuffed with people, and they hog all the resources, I never max my CPU resources out, so I should have a slow system, and Netcup is chilled about people running Windows on their equipment, they don't want extra for a license. They just caution against using illegal copies stating that it's between the user & Microsoft.
Ever since switching to Netcup, it's been rock solid.
For those looking for affordable hosting, stay away from Contabo at all costs.....
