So I'm looking to get a deal from MTN this week

This is my first phone on contract, so I'm a bit of a novice. I'd like to know when the first monthly payment will be deducted if I sign up this week. End of June? or do I pay upfront? MTN reps on social media were terribly unhelpful. If anyone could help, that would be awesome.

If you find their reps unhelpful on social media, try going in-store. They're just equally bad, if not worse. I'd personally stay away from them.

As far as I recall, you'd pay the full amount at the beginning of the billing cycle, so I would imagine you'd begin your payments end of June, but you would pay a connection fee and other admin fee when you do the sign up.

Ok, thanks. I'll go to one of their stores. Only reason why I chose them was that it was the best deal out of the other providers.

Before signing up you should check with a prepaid SIM what the MTN signals like in your area.

Not sure if that's really necessary. MTN generally has decent coverage, if they don't have coverage in your area, chances are that the other mobile operators also won't have coverage in that area, quite unlikely.

MTN new contracts you will be charged a pro rata amount from the date you activate at the end of the following month.

If you get your contract through MTN direct via 0831233667 I think it is 083123door then you will get free sim and connection. They will also advise you exactly how the payment and pro rata billing works....
