Contrast Ratio

I read this artical just now. I thought that the Contrast Ratio plays a big role when it comes to LCD's.

It seems that the human eye can't see any differences from 1000:1 contrast ratio upwards. So why do these manufacturers claim that their 200000:1 contrast ratio is the best?

That's dynamic contrast, the static contrast of the majority of monitors out there aren't over 1000:1, and it's the static contrast that matters not the dynamic contrast
