If I remember correctly, the laws (convergence + ICASA) contained clauses in them that if I supplied e-mail services on my own server to my clients as part of a support service, I would need a Rzillions lisence from ICASA.

Is this still in the proposed legislation?

This is actually very good news. The bill as was would have sent us back into the dark ages, and Telkom would be laughing all the way to the bank.

Sigh, delays, delays, delays
no i think this is a very positive development - it needs severe panel-beating before it even comes close to being a workable piece of legislation and not another telecommunications act which is essentially a series of grey areas held together by chewing gum...

they are still kidding themselves if they think they are going to get this out by the end of the year

kaspaas - i do not think it was ever the case that large money would be required but it may be that you are required to register the service

don't even worry about it at this stage

I know, in this case the redraft is very constructive, now if ICASA will only draft Telkom's new ADSL regulations.
