I think Mr. Molotsane has the right ideas. He is fully aware of his obligation to the shareholders, but he seems equally aware of the fact that in a competitive market the customers needs 'need' to be addressed. Without the customer they wont exist soon. Thats a very real truth, and they cannot ignore it any longer.
MyAdsl having formal meetings with Telkom was unheard of in Sizwe's era.
The shareholders have also been forewarned about the possiblity of shrinking profits due to regulation, so the outlook for them is certainly bleaker.
Sizwe missed the boat completely on customer issues due to zero competition or just plain greed, or perhaps a bit of both, make your own minds up.
One could also argue that Sizwe did a fine job 'fine tuning' Telkom to be able to face competition, at the expense of 1000's of jobs though to maintain profit.
Mr. Molotsane has also rocked the proverbial boat amongst the elite at Telkom with his restructuring of duties. There seems to be a 'my way or the highway' attitude there at the moment and so far Mr. Molotsane's comments about the market are favorable to the end users I think. It remains to be seen how this all translates into action and benefits for the end user, but I for one will give him a chance to come good.
