Cool Ideas Black Friday Deal

More just a random question, and I honestly don't really expect an answer...

Would anyone have been eligible for the BF special if they had had CI release their line, and then go CI to get the line back on a BF special, or were Vumatel wise to that idea?

Short answer is no

I would expect so much, was mostly just a vague "thought experiment" type of question more than anything else... since I'm currently interwebless cos Vox are being a bit slow now.

There is no way to beg to get reprieve, same terms for everyone that is open access for you. It shouldn't be a problem to release the line. Has someone helped as yet?
Can I also have my line released today? #COOL-20221128-1070557

I'm in the other boat, moving from Vox to cool ideas since VOX couldn't give me their 500mbps BF special....waiting for vox to release my line so that cool ideas can take it over....got an email from VOX yesterday saying that it's been approved, not sure if that means they've actually sent the release to vumatel.

Edit:Just called cool ideas now ,apparently line has been released today by VOX....but they(cool ideas) can't action the activation because it keeps on failing due to the 4 hour load shedding my area is in.

Well largely all I'm getting from Vox is radio silence mostly.

Did you come right?

Good luck, apparently if you don't get the release done today - then you won't qualify for the special.
Yep... Special was set up in a kak way TBH.

They SHOULD have made it "if you apply before X date you qualify" but it honestly just looks like scummy marketing tactics because I applied on the Sunday "yay you qualify here's your R200 invoice for the processing"... I even sent through my RICA kak... next morning I get a mail at 10:45
For you to qualify for the black Friday special your order must be placed with Vumatel by 28/11/2022 COB

As the line is only releasing on 31/12/2022 we can only place the order from 1/1/2023

Askies? So CI KNOWS that lines take 30 days to release "normally" but they set up a special that you only have a couple of days to "apply" for but actually cannot get because your line will only release over a month later. Then they proceed to tell me "you can move at the normal cost". And then automated mails come through going "your service will get cut off".

Some people in this thread mentioned asking for immediate release of the line from current ISP but CI consultant didn't mention any such thing just "too bad so sad...".

It was a Vumatel promo with a few ISPs.
Seemed short notice from Vuma side, but could have been better managed all round I guess.

Black Friday deals are generally cooked up a week before black Friday so yeah makes sense

I didn't see vuma posters promoting the special... I saw cool ideas posters.

How the flip can they run a special hinged on another isp releasing the line in a short space of time.

Surely they could have run it as a "sign up by x date" special instead of the way they ran it now.

They offer an amazing offer which I can't take up because "oh sorry the current ISP will only release your line in a months time" (which sounds standard unless you apparently force the issue) but you can join us at our regular pricing makes it look like the ol bait n switch "oh sorry the product offered on special isn't available but here's a similar one at a non special price". I was super keen to move over because Vox has horrendous support structures... But yeah... I'm not moving for the same price and knowing how things normally go something in the process will go wrong and I'll sit without internet for a week because someone messed something up.

So I just logged in to Cool ideas to pay the monthly bill and I noticed

This special running only for a year? Didnt see any * revert to normal billing after a year type of T&C's at the time and was looking out for it. I am pretty sure it was supposed to stay as per terms until you move address?

Anyone have a copy of the T&C's from that time?

I had a look at your billing and nothing has changed?

yes, nothing changed *yet*, except there's what appears to be an expiry date in the descriptor. "FTTH-VUMATELBLACKFRIDAY2022-500/200Mbps (2023-11-01 - 2023-11-30)"

I believe this deal specifically did not mention reverting to some other price after an initial period. I paid particular attention to this when signing up.

So I'm pre-emptively asking whats going on before I get hit with a price upgrade next month

That's the billing period? There are no planned changes

@PBCool can confirm my BF pricing is still being honoured AND that the date mentioned is indeed the invoice period. You can see this when looking back at each and every previous invoice.

Nothing to see here - OP got it wrong.

Oh its the billing period - never noticed it before and thought it was an impending date for escalation. No harm, never said I got charged wrongly...

Anyway- does anyone have a copy of the T&C's somewhere?

As far as I remember it's locked in until you cancel or change plans.

However other ISPs like cough *RSAWEB* cough haven't honoured their plans.

Balwin Fibre has also cancelled their BF deals.
