Awesome.

One thing i see atm is that AWS sao paulo isn't 100% correct, it sits at about 210-230ms:

It takes a week or two for AWS to setup peering but it will be next.

Anyone willing to take part in an experiment with Twitch, please PM me your current IP address.

First 5 takers will be added to a policy routing setup in our UK pop where I have deployed a transparent proxy for the Twitch EU streaming server range: 185.42.204.0/22

</snip>
I'm in PTA East on OS, I don't experience problems with Twitch but then again I don't really watch it all that much. I'll be happy to help in anyway if need be.

I used to be a big advocate for Cool Ideas but I am now experiencing some of the service issues I have seen mentioned by a few. Is this a general trend and should I start shopping around?

@PBCool Take it tomorrow night was again a gimmick as it has been for the last 4 weeks? Also seeing all these service issue and 190 Latency to Frankfurt I am also starting to doubt Cool Ideas. Should have stayed with Axxess with a Solid 169 ping to Frankfurt. No Twitch buffering etc.

Sorry I don't follow? As per the above Sao Paulo is up, what does your trace to Frankfurt look like?

Anyone willing to take part in an experiment with Twitch, please PM me your current IP address.

First 5 takers will be added to a policy routing setup in our UK pop where I have deployed a transparent proxy for the Twitch EU streaming server range: 185.42.204.0/22

The proxy is running an instance of https://github.com/LiamHaworth/go-tproxy which basically just intercepts your TCP connection for the Twitch streaming server range, and transparently initiates another connection to the actual twitch servers.

The new connection is then plumbed together with the orginal TCP connection.

Why? Well, it seems like a good way to experiment with Google's BBR Congestion Control algorithm, to see if it helps with lossy last mile connections. Let's call it TCP stack optimisation.

BBR is a congestion control algorithm that Google has implemented on nearly all it's infrastructure, which tries to find high throughput by probing bandwidth and round trip time. It does not consider factors such as packet loss, which should in theory help with somewhat lossy last mile networks. Of course, it won't remove packet loss, but it should be less sensitive to it.

We have also been researching commercial transparent acceleration solutions such as those provided by Sandvine and other vendors, to mitigate the issues caused by lossy last mile networks.

I am specifically looking for a few Octotel volunteers that like their twitch streaming, and are having issues with it.

Here be dragons: It is experimental, the proxy code is very slightly tested, and could fall over. If it does break, it should restart, but you could be left twitchless, unless you switch to the Cape Town or Joburg squid proxies.

Man is Octotel really that bad? How did I get so lucky....

Brazil route is 10ms faster than the EU route (170ms vs 180ms, from Durban), at least for Apex Legends. It's not much, but it's honest work :) Thanks @PBCool

My internet has been off since last night and I logged a ticket this morning. I have urgent work to do and I hope this isn't going to take days as it unusually does to get resolved. Days of being kept in the dark, hours on the phone to try and get an answer for anyone about progress. When I have to deal with Cool Ideas support staff it makes me worried, because their after sales support is slow and there is always promises of call back, which never happens.

PLEASE COOL IDEAS, DON'T LEAVE ME IN THE DARK AND WITHOUT INTERNET FOR DAYS AGAIN

If it is an urgent issue I would suggest you call support this am with your ref. Let me know if you have any issues in doing so.
