It's a joke, not a d1ck - Don't take it so hardDo they pay you to be a fan boy?

In the 2H of 2019, roughly 3 - 4% of DDoS attacks lasted for more than 20 Hours...
Its true, I will also stick around in hopes that such a large scale attack will have them better prepared for next time(hopefully there isnt a next time). If you look at the best ISP's in SA, all the top 5 have been hit over the last few weeks or months. Moving isnt the solution, people are looking for a way to stop feeling angry or frustrated, taking action to leave cool ideas will probably satisfy that feeling for now, until the next issue with the next isp arises, then its back to angry...I trust that Cool Ideas knows what they are doing. The anger for not having an internet connection is definitely there on my side (hell i've been getting it in the ear from the SO for most of the weekend), but I understand the complexity of these things to some degree (enough to be dangerous) so I can sympathise with them and the amount of effort they are going through at the moment and I am also fully aware that moving to a different ISP isn't going to necessarily solve the problem when these twats target that IP range next.
Obviously I can’t answer that because we are not privy to that information.Of course, but what traffic pattern have those volumetric attacks taken?
What would be interesting to see though is what size/type of DDoS they could withstand and for how long. Then we could compare whether CISP has done reasonable preparations or not.Other ISP's have put in effective mitigation strategies, going on the latest news.
CI doesn't learn from the past clearly.
It's hilarious is what it is![]()

Excellent...One day we will all look back on this terrible time and remember the Great Internet Outage of November 2019.
We will remember that we somehow managed to cope, but specifics will have faded. That we had to fantasize about our exes because Pornhub was unavailable. That my chess.com rating plummeted when I was forced to concede a game against a ridiculously bad opponent. We might even sadly recall those good people who, in terrible desperation, moved over to MWEB and were never heard from again.
Hang in there guys - be strong! This will pass.
Going to have to fap to our own d1ckpics thenSadly I am seeing like 70 packet loss to pornhub and buffering all over. Would not recommend to relieve frustration. I'm not even seeing anything on the page, but it could be this Invisible series is too literal with the title.
aren't you on openserve and have the luxury of buying a capped account somewhere else, then pornhub will work.Sadly I am seeing like 70 packet loss to pornhub and buffering all over. Seems like they haven't done any preparations. They fought the previous fires, got through them but haven't put effective measures in place for the next time. Other ISP's have. Wonder how CI will spin this and it's going to be even more hilarious watching all the folks so loyal to the core to a shite ISP swallow it all up.What would be interesting to see though is what size/type of DDoS they could withstand and for how long. Using ExpressVPN and getting 50+ Mbps from the Johannesburg server to Cape TownFor those who are using VPN to do their own mitigation, which do you suggest? I see both ExpressVPN and NordVPN have servers in Johannesburg and both have been mentioned previously so they look like the most likely solutions.
Would prefer a server in Cape Town, but beggars can't be choosers...

This is comical xDSeems like they haven't done any preparations. They fought the previous fires, got through them but haven't put effective measures in place for the next time. Other ISP's have. in context, this isn't their first time around this merry go round. Nothing learnt from the previous times
And for folks saying moving won't help - of course it will. Idiocy believing otherwise. It's quite easy to understand - had you moved after the 2nd time going through the same issues, the 3rd time would have been a non-issue. Logic dictates.
If I recall 99% in my studies meant that they can be offline completely for between 14-15 daysAre there an SLA of sorts in the T&C's? Their uptime is probably somewhere around the 99% mark. Would be good to remind people what they signed for.
yeah, i'm with ah/vuma, last night was horrible, had to use a vpn then i could RD again, today better than normal with ah using telkom upstream, who would have thoughtYeah its pretty neat, feel bad for all of those who can't flip accounts. Today my backup accounts seem to be a lot better but yesterday, they were also getting hit hard. Liquid telecom was a standstill and I think Afrihost even dropped them for Telkom
Routing my stuff via Seacom (Durban) has released some stress.
